An international event dedicated to facilitate interaction among people and organizations and to promote projects and businesses within the marine economy, open to the participation of any organisation.
Any stakeholder whose activities are related to the sea and its resources, including companies, associations, research centres, universities and public bodies, among others.
Strengthening the dynamics of strategic cooperation between all the marine economy stakeholders and raise social awareness about the need to protect oceans’ health are crucial aspects to benefit from its whole potential.
Any intervention within this scope must be driven by a sustainable management perspective, which guarantees a good environmental status of the oceans and the preservation of its natural capital.
Fórum Oceano, private non-profit association acknowledged of public utility, recognised as driving force of the Portuguese Maritime Cluster by the Portuguese Government It has been organising the international event Fórum do Mar since 2011, renamed BUSINESS2SEA in 2016.
CETMAR Foundation, public organisation depending on the Galician Government, aimed to improve marine environment, its resources and the industries depending on them, fostering innovation and environmental, social and economic sustainability. CETMAR joined the Business2Sea organising team in 2018 as part of a long term cooperation strategy between both entities, boosting a significant participation of Galician stakeholders in the event.

The face-to-face sessions will be carried out at the historical building of AFUNDACIÓN in Vigo, Spain.
The 2020 edition of Business2Sea focused on the European Green Deal and its expected impact on the Blue Economy.
For the first time it was carried out under a virtual format, due to the restrictions associated to the pandemic crisis, which favoured a great increase of its international scope, gathering participants from 33 different countries.
The 2019 edition of Business2Sea gathered around 650 participants from more than ten countries. The event promoted the debate on “Healthy Oceans and the Sustainable Use of Marine Resources”.
Business2Sea hosted the 6th Atlantic Stakeholder Platform Conference and the Annual Event of Interreg Atlantic Area.
For the first time Fórum Oceano counts on the collaboration of the Centro Tecnológico del Mar – Fundación CETMAR, from Galicia (Spain) for the organisation of the Business2Sea.
As a step forward in offering a diversified programme, the event hosts the conference “Norway-Iceland-Portugal EEA Grants Business Opportunities”, as well as the projects ValorMar and KETmaritime meetings and the certification session of the first Nautical Stations of Portugal.
The Business2Sea hosts the kick-off meeting of the [BlueTech] INvertebrateIT – “Disruptive and forward-looking opportunities for competitive and sustainable aquaculture” project, in which consortium participates Fórum Oceano.
Two protocols are signed, one for the constitution of the Advisory Board of the TEC4Sea project and another one related to the HUB NAVAL – Training Qualification.
The Fórum do Mar is renamed as Business2Sea and it is carried out in the Alfândega do Porto Congress Centre for the first time.
The Minister for the Sea, Ana Paula Vitorino, attends both the opening and the commemorative session if the National Day of the Sea.
The exhibition area includes the new Pitches programme.
The Fórum del Mar hosts the 3rd edition of the Portugal Atlantic Conference, co-organised by the General Direction of Sea Policy and Fórum Océano.
The organisation of the business-to-business programme is supported by a web platform that facilitates the management of agendas.
Two protocols are signed: one between Fórum Oceano and BlueBio Alliance and another one between Fórum Océano and 13 other entities, for the creation of a Dynamising Group for the Nautical Portugal.
The Fórum do Mar includes some new components such as European projects MARNET and AtlanticBlue Tech meetings.
The event receives the visit of the Minister for Agriculture and the Sea, Assunção Cristas, the Minister for Regional Development, Miguel Poiares Maduro, and the Secretary of State for the Sea, Manuel Pinto de Abreu.
The 3rd edition of Fórum do Mar was intented to foster the debate about “Sea Challenges 2020”
Additionally, the TSF, reference radio station for news in Portugal, broadcasted a live debate within the framework of the event, with the participation of the president of Oceano XXI, Ribau Esteves, the president of the Naval Industry Association, Frederico Spranger, and the General Directo of Sea Policy, major Fonseca Ribeiro.
The 2nd edition of Fórum do Mar offered a diversified set of activities, including new proposals such as a business-to-business programme and institutional presentations of the international clusters Marine South East (UK), Pole Mer and Technopole Brest (France) and the Maritime Cluster of Finland.
The event received the visit of the President of the Portuguese Republic, Prof. Aníbal Cavaco Silva.
Organized by Oceano XXI (former name of Fórum Oceano) and the Business Association of Portugal (AEP), the first edition included a number of activities such as exhibition, an international conference, “Live the Cluster” moment, “Internationalization” moment, recreational sailing, workshops addressed to youngsters and visits to Portuguese Navy boats.

The 13th annual BlueTech Week scheduled for Nov. 15-19 will be virtual. The overall theme this year is “AquaOptimism™: Inclusion, Inspiration, Innovation”. Last year, the event gathered 665 attendees from 37 countries over 5 days and, in 2021, the organisation is looking for 40+ countries to participate BlueTech Week’s focus is on innovation, collaboration, globalization and sustainability as it brings together academia, government, and industry. Docapesca, a member of Fórum Oceano, will promote the event Expo Fish Portugal, a virtual space for the promotion of Portuguese fish and activities related to the sea, on the16th and 17th of November. Expo Fish Portugal aims to centralise the offer of national fish – fresh and processed – into a virtual event, bringing together trade, research and innovation. Aimed at national and foreign professionals, the event’s main objective is to contribute to the internationalisation and promotion of activities related to the fisheries sector, as well as other blue activities, such as shipbuilding and repair, recreational boating and tourism.
