Professor at the Federal University of Paraná, Brazil, since 1990, as a teacher and counselor in the Biological Sciences Course and in the Postgraduate Program in Zoology, Master and Doctorate. Graduate in Oceanology from the University of Rio Grande; master’s degree in freshwater biology and inland fisheries from the National Institute for Research in the Amazon (Manaus); PhD in Biological Oceanography from the University of São Paulo. Post-doctorate at Université Montpellier II, France, area of estuary ecology. He held executive roles at the Brazilian Society of Ichthyology and at the Federal University of Paraná, and coordinated Brazil-France research projects CNPq-CNRS and CAPES-COFECUB. Member of the Iberoamerican Fisheries Research Network – INVIPESCA. Leads Ichthyology Research Group, with emphasis on marine fish biology and fishing
